Scripture teaches that God provides both the Bible and the Spirit to sustain us.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NLT) “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.

This weekend we will hear a recap about the recent trip several people from Stonebridge took to El Salvador to drill a fresh water well and how that impacted their spiritual life.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit can be defined as at the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit places a believer into permanent union with Christ and other believers in The Body of Christ.

John 10:27-28 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand” a. Be quiet (Psalm 46:10) b. Listen to understand. c. Obey Him

WHAT DOES THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEAL? Truth from God, truth about ourselves, truth from mind to heart , truth to guide our decisions.

Ephesians 5:1-2, 10 “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God…and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.”

2 Timothy 1:6-7 “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you though the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”

We all have a place in God's Kingdom and without your talents and gifts the church is not complete. So, how do we find our place in God's Kingdom? We need to start by 1) Knowing who we are and 2) Overcoming two spiritual diseases.

Love is Essential, Love is Equipping and Love is Eternal. 'If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.'

Paul teaches us what it means to speak in tongues and to prophecy. We need to 1) Desire the gifts 2) Practice the gifts and 3) Through prayer, seek the Spirit's guidance in building others.

What is the relationship of tongues and prophecies to non-Christians? What are Biblical guidelines for worship services? How do we worship "decently and in order"?

Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.”

John 17:4 “I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do.”

Through the book of Judges we will need to concentrate on three ideas: 1) How do I make sense of the book of Judges? 2) What is God saying to us in Judges? and 3)Are you open to the life changing lessons in the book of Judges?

As we continue through the book of Judges, we learn why half-hearted obedience is costly, that we need to learn from our mistakes and that God shows us grace in action as He comes to our rescue.

In chapters 4-5 of Judges, we learn how God is a Warrior who delights to deliver His people in unexpected ways, and that He cares about the details of our lives! Is your God amazing, and do you know that He cares about the details of your life?

GOD SOMETIMES USES FLAWED PEOPLE FOR HIS MISSION We can easily find ourselves putting too much confidence in our own strengths. The Apostle Paul confessed that he was tempted to do that in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Judges 17:6 “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” DESIGNER RELIGIONS ARE ATTRACTIVE BUT EMPTY (Judges 17-18). Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Israels History is conflict and horror. "Everyone did what was right in his own eyes" - Judges 21:25 Through Christ we find that there is hope in the midst of darkness!

"It is good for me that I was afflicted that I might learn your statutes. Psalm 119:71

When the heat is on, stay in the kitchen. The Cook knows what He is doing!

Is that "old time religion" good enough...for God?

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.

James 2:1-13 "My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of Glory"

"...what good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?" Listen as Jason explains how faith apart from works is not enough in a world that needs Christ's love in a tangible way.

According to the Bible in Ephesians, "there is one body and one Spirit...one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father."

"Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check."

What causes fights and quarrels among you? The answer....they come from YOUR selfish desires that battle within YOU! James 4:1

Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that"

At a tipping point in God's redemptive mission, we encounter...the Predicament of Freedom, and an Enduring Vision for Following God.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils.
