"When he [Jesus] was twelve years old…and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men."
(Luke 2:42-52)
56 Miles (Luke 2:42-52)

56 Miles is a combined ministry group specific to 5th and 6th graders. Like any 100 mile trek, their faith journey is becoming full of unfamiliar curves and new challenges as they develop and grow into the pre-teen years. At mile marker 56, pre-adolescent kids are just past half way; they are too ‘mature’ for children’s ministry but not quite ready for youth group. Many are beginning to experience new changes and pressures: hormonal, social, emotional, moral, etc.—as well as struggles for independence.
Through this new discipleship approach, 56 Miles ministers to pre-teens through gifted adults who have a heart for shepherding, forming authentic relationships, and are able to relate God and His Word to their challenges and worldview. What we offer 5th and 6th graders isn’t the same old stories they’ve heard since preschool—we provide the spiritual sustenance that’s going to carry them through tough teen years into young adulthood.
56 Miles is not a ‘church’ program. 56 Miles is an ‘identity’, a combined group that uses multiple ministry approaches to prepare kids for youth discipleship and student life at Stonebridge. Think of it as a ‘successful bridge’ from children’s ministry to youth ministry.
